Nominations Being Accepted for Cropland, Grassland & Community Conservation Awards

(GRAND ISLAND, NE)- The Central Platte Natural Resources District (CPNRD) is accepting nominations to recognize land owners, land managers, producers, and communities who use best management practices on their operation or within their landscape design. Nominations are being accepted in three categories: Cropland, Grassland and Community.

Examples of best management include practices that are generally known to conserve water and/or energy, and improve water quality, soil health, air quality, and wildlife habitat. The nominees must own, rent, farm or manage within the Central Platte NRD; which extends from Gothenburg to Columbus along the Platte River.

Nomination forms are available on the CPNRD website: or by calling the NRD office at (308) 385-6282. The nominations are reviewed by the CPNRD Programs Committee and winners are selected by the Board of Directors at their November 17th meeting. Nominations are due on Monday, November 14, 2016.

The 2016 Presentation of Awards will be held from 4:00-5:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at Balz Reception Hall in Grand Island, NE.
