TACOMA, WASHINGTON – An Amtrak train traveling from Seattle to Portland, Ore., derailed near a highway overpass in Tacoma on Monday morning, causing at least multiple deaths and injuries, officials there say.
The derailment took place on the I-5 overpass in Pierce County. At this time it is unclear how many people were on the train at the time. The Pierce County Sheriff’s office says that there are “multiple deaths and injuries.”
Several vehicle on the I-5 were struck by the train falling off the bridge. Pictures show train cars dangling from above.
