LCSO investigates North Platte shooting

From Lincoln County Sheriff's Office:

On July 15, 2014 around 11:11 pm, North Platte Police Department was called to Patriot Mobile Home Park, lot #12 on the report of a physical disturbance. While responding witnesses told the Dispatch Center a male subject had ran away from the scene on foot. Upon arrival Police Officers found a female bleeding heavily from her head. Officers were told the female was assaulted by her husband; twenty-six year old Christopher W. Tidball of North Platte. The victim claimed that she was kicked with boots to the head and beaten with a lamp. The injured female was transported to Great Plains Health by North Platte Rescue.

Police Officers began to search for Mr. Tidball to arrest him for felony assault. Later in the evening, Police Officers were informed by neighbors that Mr. Tidball had returned to the residence. Officers responded to the front of the residence. While law enforcement was front, Mr. Tidball shot himself in another room. Mr. Tidball was transported to Great Plains Health. Mr. Tidball was then taken to Good Samaritan Hospital due to life threatening injuries.

Nebraska State Law requires a Grand Jury Investigation anytime an individual dies while in custody of law enforcement. Because Mr. Tidball's injuries were life threatening and he was going to be arrested for the assault, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office was called in to conduct an investigation into the incident. Investigators for the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office took over the scene and processed it through the night. The investigation into this matter continues.
