OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ben Sasse, who has made repeal of President Barack Obama's health care law the focus of his candidacy, is releasing a video revealing his own family's health scare.

Sasse's wife, Melissa, suffered a brain aneurism in January 2007.
The aneurism not only landed her in a hospital, facing months of rehabilitation and years of recovery, it left the family fighting with insurance companies that balked at covering the family's $160,000 in medical bills.

Sasse says it took ``scores of calls, many that were an hour-plus long'' over five months to get the insurers to pay. Sasse believes the ordeal could have been avoided if insurance policies were portable across jobs and state lines _ two proposals in his 25-page health care reform plan released last month.
