Pilkington begins duties as Miss Nebraska

The new Miss Nebraska JaCee Pilkington has spent the last couple days taking congratulatory calls and being part of a lot of activities at Nebraskaland Days, which is held at the host city of the pageant, North Platte. Pilkington says it was "an unbelievable feeling" when the countdown through the top five women left in the competition got down to the last two and her eventual crowning Saturday night

Pilkington says her final onstage question was regarding what she planned to do in her first weeks and months as Miss Nebraska. She says she will be working on making her platform "Operation Remember Me", which involves veterans who have come home from war, an official non-profit organization. She also plans to hold a number of golf tournaments to raise money for her trip to Miss America and for the Children's Hospital in Omaha.

Pilkington says some sort of homecoming event is being planned for June 17th, but the details have not been worked out yet.
