U.S. Forest Service responds to LR40
The U.S. Forest Service is allocating $190,000 toward fencing materials to replace exterior fences along their boundary lines in Dawes County.
State Sen. Al Davis says LR40 prompted the U.S. Forest Service to do so.
"LR40 called on the U.S. Forest Service to reconsider the decision to knife funding for fence replacement, and asked it to pay its portion of the costs. This shared responsibility complies with Nebraska's fencing law."
Davis introduced LR40 in January. The U.S. Forest service originally said the burden of replacement was solely on landowners after the fires of 2012.
