Cozad earns hard fought victory over Broken Bow

Cozad bolted to a 20 to 0 lead, then held for a 26 to 13 win over Broken Bow Friday night at Haymaker Stadium.

Jake Paulsen ran 36 yards for Cozad's 1st score and hauled in a 63 yard pass from Nate Bubak for their second score. Conor Young was on the receiving end of a 40 yard touchdown pass in the 2nd quarter and Cozad lead 20 to 0.

Broken Bow fought back, scoring on a 5 yard run by Jeremy Christner with 4 minutes left in the 2nd quarter and Cozad lead 20 to 6 at intermission.

After a scoreless 3rd quarter, Broken Bow put together a 65 yard drive with Christner scoring from 38 yards out. Hunter Smith's p.a.t. pulled the Indians within 7, at 20 to 13 with 3:45 left in the ballgame. Cozad recovered the ensuing on-side kick, drove the ball 48 yards, capped off by a 7 yard scoring run by Colin Wetovick.

Jeremy Christner had 64 yards rushing and 2 td's for Broken Bow, while Jake Paulsen rushed for 114 yards for Cozad. Nate Bubak passed for 119 yards and 2 scores. Cozad is 3 and 0 while Broken Bow is 1 and 2.
