Driving excursion ends with tickets and towed vehicle

A 16-year-old Lexington boy may be re-thinking his driving actions following a hit and run accident report Saturday morning in Lexington's Memorial Park. According to Lexington Police, witnesses observed a vehicle spinning circles and hit a tree. The suspect vehicle was located with severe front end damage, both airbags deployed and the front windshield shattered. The boy was cited on suspicion of Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Driving Under Suspension. The juvenile's parents were contacted and the vehicle was towed.

In an unrelated case, a hit and run accident was reported Friday afternoon in the 200 block of East 13th Street. A parked pickup was struck resulting in damage to the left side of the pickup box and left side mirror. The case remains under investigation.

And last week, a 66-year-old Lexington man was arrested and lodged in the Dawson County Jail. Francisco Monterosa was being held on an immigration detainer warrant.
