EQIP Deadline Nearing For Landowners
Landowners have a few weeks to apply for the time to sign up for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). Through EQIP, farmers and ranchers may receive financial and technical help with conservation practices on agricultural land. While Congress has not passed the 2012 Farm Bill, District Conservationist Dallas Johannsen encourages landowners to get their application submitted for cost-share practices
The voluntary conservation program available to private landowners and operators. Johansen says EQIP is one our most versatile programs.
Individuals interested in entering into an EQIP agreement may file an application at any time, but the ranking of applications on hand to receive funding will begin Dec. 21, 2012. Johansen says applicants can work with NRCS planners on conservation projects.
This year NRCS will have about half of their normal funding with a half million dollars. The state-wide application deadline is Friday, December 21.
