Tornado Victim's Brother Speaks Out
The brother of the five-year-old girl who was killed in Monday's tornado in Pilger contacted the KTIC newsroom this morning.
Cody Murphree, who is employed at Heritage Homes in Wayne says his sister, Calista Dixon was killed by the tornado. His mother, 42-year-old Kandi Murphree, is in a medically induced coma in Omaha. His four-year-old sister escaped with just scratches.
Murphree says he called his mother when he heard about the tornado warning and told them to get out of their mobile home and find shelter. But it wasn't to be. The mobile home on Main Street was destroyed while they were inside.
Murphree is asking for clothing for his younger sister, size 4-T or 5-T and some food items. They can be dropped off at Heritage Homes in Wayne.
