Gering schools back to normal
Gering High has been removed from lockdown after Police were unable to find a young male reportedly walking near the high school with a gun. The report was made shortly before 2 p.m. and the school was placed under lockdown for approximately 50 minutes. Lincoln elementary was secured with doors locked but was never officially on lockdown status according to principal George Schlothauer.
Gering Police converged around the high school but did not find anyone matching the description given by a female student.
Gering High principal Eldon Hubbard said it was a "credible report". He said the student reported a young man, believed to be a student, walking east on U Street near the tennis courts wearing a hooded blue sweatshirt with the muzzle of the gun visible from the top of the sweatshirt and the butt visible out the bottom.
Gering Police not only searched the area but also talked to those living and working near the school.
