NP Police sweep high school for contraband

North Platte Police report that a planned lockdown of North Platte High School took place Tuesday to search lockers for contraband with drug-sniffing dogs.

Admininistrators with the assistance of 5 law enforcement officers searched 1,200 lockers and nearly 500 parking stalls with the help of the Broken Bow PD and Cheyenne and Lincoln County Sheriff's Offices providing K9 assistance.

No contraband was found inside the building, but as a result of the vehicle searches, a 17 year old male and 18 year old Katrina Wright were both cited for possession of marijuana less than an ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia. A police spokesman said during a search such as this one, students continue classes as normal.
