Scottsbluff runs past Lexington girls
Scottsbluff got off to a fast start Thursday night and never looked back in downing visiting Lexington 46-29 on night one of the East-West girls basketball shootout.
The Bearcats jumped out to a 15-to-8 lead after the first quarter and put the game away by halftime. The Cats led at intermission 29-8 after blanking Lexington 14-to-0 in the second quarter.
"It was a much needed win," said Scottsbluff head coach Mike Burda. "The girls did some good things. Now we have to get ready for McCook.
Juniors Toni Rosado and Kiley Guerue paced the Bearcat attack Thursday. Both players scored 12 points and Rosado added 10 rebounds for the 2-16 Cats.
Lexington, playing without seniors Casey Seberger and Hallie Gydesen, was led by senior Molly Woockman with six points.
Lexington will try to rebound tomorrow at Alliance. Scottsbluff hosts 17-3 McCook.
