Lexington splits with Phillipsburg
The Lexington Minutemen ended an up and down regular season with a 65-59 win over Philipsburg on Thursday night. Lexington never trailed while picking up its 10th win of the year. Lexington appeared to be in good shape with a 14 point lead with 4 minutes left in the fourth quarter. The Panthers however went a 11-0 run to cut the lead to three with 1:30 remaining. That's when sophomore Trevor McKeone stepped up for Lexington as he went 7-7 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter and finished with 22 points to help Lexington escape with the win. Lewis-Lewis added 14 for Lexington and Arlis Alvarez pumped in 13. Phillipsburg was paced by Tanner Crist who scored 16 and they fall to 9-10 on the season.
Behind a strong defensive effort Phillipsburg downed Lexington 48-32. The Panthers never trailed after they jumped out to 24-12 advantage at the half. Mattison Dusin paced Phillipsburg with 14 points as they improved to 14-5 on the season. Lexington saw its five game winning streak come to an end. They were led by Hannah Ostrom who scored 18. Lexington ends the regular season at 8-16 and will play Aurora in Grand Island in the B-5 Quarterfinals on Tuesday Feb 25th at 7pm. That game will be broadcast on krvn.com "The Stream".
