Grand jury finds no wrongdoing in death of North Platte man
A Lincoln county grand jury has determined police officers followed proper procedure in the death of a North Platte man who barricaded himself inside his home with loaded guns.
On December 11, 2013, North Platte Police received a report that 27 year old Jesse Hornbacher was inside his home. After arriving at the residence at 918 North Walnut Street, police attempted to talk the man out of the home. After a short standoff, Hornbacher shot himself and died.
Hornbacher was not free to leave at the time of the standoff, therefore an independent investigation had to be conducted. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office performed the investigation and the information was presented to a grand jury which met Tuesday and determined there was no wrongdoing. Based on the grand jury's decision, no charges will be filed.
