Nebraska no longer PEDV free

Nebraska has become the 20th state to be diagnosed with the PEDV virus. The case was confirmed the week of December 1st. The location of the incident was not made public. There are now 1512 reported cases of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus nationwide. Iowa has the most with 495, Kansas has 126 cases and Colorado has 34. The reporting of the disease is voluntary so it is probable that more cases exist in Nebraska. The disease causes diarrhea, vomiting and severe dehydration in pigs and is often fatal to small pigs.
