Republican Ag Committee Member Not Happy with Senate Budget Proposal

The Senate Budget Committee passed the Concurrent Resolution on the Budget for Fiscal Year 2014 by a vote of 12 to 10 Thursday. Senate Ag Committee member Mike Johanns of Nebraska says the budget - introduced by Senate Budget Chair Patty Murray on behalf of Senate Democrats - is nothing short of a fiscal fiasco on par with Obamacare. He says he sees no way it can be fixed. According to Johanns - it's a more-of-everything proposal - more taxes, more spending, more borrowing and more debt passed on to future generations. According to background released by Johanns - the budget proposes up to a 1.5-trillion dollar tax increase in addition to another trillion dollars of new taxes set to begin as part of the President's health care law, increases the nation's debt to 24.4-trillion dollars by the end of the 10-year budget window, never decreases annual borrowing to less than 400-billion dollars per year, doesn't bring our debt below 90-percent of our entire economy in any of the years covered and projects it will eclipse 100-percent for the next four years.
