Senators Want Hearing with Trade Negotiators
A group of Senators are trying to ensure agriculture is a priority in trade discussions between the U.S. and European Union. Chuck Grassley, Pat Roberts, Mike Enzi and John Thune have requested a Senate Finance Committee hearing with U.S. trade negotiators to better understand their working-group efforts with EU officials. Iowa's Grassley says ag trade has always been a difficult subject with the EU. But if the U.S. is going to move forward on a possible trade agreement - he says agriculture must be a major discussion topic. He says the barriers the EU has placed on many U.S. ag products are not based in sound science. Grassley says that is hurting our producers.
