Panhandle Coop Breaks Ground for Fertilizer Plant
Ground breaking for a new fertilizer plant was held this morning north of Alliance. The Panhandle Cooperative Association is building a five-million dollar facility on the southwest side of County Road 61 and Madison Road.
Panhandle Cooperative Crop Production Manager Greg France says Box Butte County is growing region for the cooperative.
Panhandle Coop will eventually re-locate employees from the Berea office to Alliance and see the addition seven or eight more people.
The facility will consist of four large liquid fertilizer tanks, a chemical building and a office. In phase two -Panhandle Coop will be a facility for dry fertilizer. France says the plant will come together quickly. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by September 1st.
