Monsanto Now Searching for Next Farm Mom of the Year

The search for the fourth America's Farmers Mom of the Year is on. Monsanto U.S. Row Crops Lead Lisa Safarian says the number of female farm operators has grown exponentially over the past decade - and farm moms play a significant role not only on their farms and in their communities - but also to the American food supply and economy.

Safarian says this contest is one small tribute to the amazing women who balance the responsibilities of family, home and farm while volunteering in their community and also promoting agriculture. She says anyone who has ever lived in an agricultural community was likely impacted by a hardworking, humble farm mom. This is a great opportunity to say thank you to that special woman - she says - just in time for Mother's Day.

People may now nominate their favorite farm mom online at until April 23rd by submitting a brief essay explaining how she contributes to her family, farm, community and agriculture. A panel of judges from American Agri-Women and Monsanto will select one regional winner from five regions.

Those winners' profiles will be posted to the website for online voting - which will determine the national winner - who will be announced on Mother's Day. The regional winners will each receive five-thousand dollars in cash.

The national winner will receive another five-thousand dollar cash prize. For official rules and eligibility requirements - visit
