Broadband focus group meetings in Panhandle

Business and community leaders and the general public are invited to attend focus group meetings sponsored by the Nebraska Broadband Initiative in Chadron, Scottsbluff, Alliance and Sidney in early April.
The meetings will focus on current local broadband capabilities and usage, plus look ahead to future needs for growth and success. Discussion topics include broadband use by individuals, communities, business (including ag business), education, libraries and health care.
Meeting dates, times and locations:
· April 8, 9-11 a.m. in Chadron at Country Kitchen
· April 8, 2-4 p.m. in Scottsbluff at Harms Advanced Technology Center
· April 9, 9-11a.m. in Alliance at the Alliance Public Library
· April 9, 2-4 p.m. in Sidney at 21st Century Equipment

According to Nixon, this is an opportunity for everyone to share their viewpoints on technology performance today and needs for tomorrow.
The Nebraska Broadband Initiative is part of a national effort to bring broadband high speed Internet access and information technology to all areas of the state.
The Broadband Mapping and Planning Initiative, funded through a grant to the Nebraska Public Service Commission by the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration, aims to increase broadband adoption and utilization. Project partners include Nebraska Public Service Commission, University of NebraskaLincoln, Nebraska Information Technology Commission, Nebraska Department of Economic Development and AIM Institute.
