Made in Rural America Forum Series Begins

Last year - exported food and ag products topped a record breaking 144-billion dollars and supported nearly 1-million jobs - according to Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack. With the success of ag exports - Vilsack knows other rural businesses have much to offer the world market and the ability to grow and create jobs when their exports are increased. Vilsack spoke at the White House Rural Council's first Made in Rural America regional export forum yesterday (Wednesday). The forum kicks off a serious of four more forums to help rural businesses and leaders take advantage of new investment opportunities and access new markets around the world. At the forum - the Obama Administration unveiled a web portal for rural businesses considering export opportunities through Business USA dot gov (www.BusinessUSA.gov) that allows businesses to search aggregated business-related information and resources from 24 federal agencies. The next forum will be in the Memphis region on July 18th.
