Emma Jean Breiner, 81, of Bertrand, Nebraska

Funeral Services for Emma Jean Breiner will be conducted from the Westmark Evangelical Free Church in rural Loomis, Nebraska on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Rick Smith, officiating. Following the traditional funeral, cremation will take place and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Emma Jean Breiner, 81 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. Emma Jean was born September 7, 1930 in Galesburg, Illinois, the eldest of three children born to Howard and Alice (Furr) Morris. Emma Jean graduated with the class of 1948, at Galesburg High School in Galesburg, Illinois and then pursued higher education at the Western Illinois University, receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Education.

On January 20, 1957, Emma Jean was united in marriage to Everett Breiner at her mother's home. To this union three children were born: Diane, Howard and David. The couple made their home in Illinois before moving West and retiring in Bertrand in 2000.

Emma Jean loved anything to do with Cardinal Birds. She enjoyed collecting them, from Christmas cards to other various knick-knacks. She was a member of the Westmark Evangelical Free Women's Bible Study.

Emma Jean leaves to mourn her husband, Everett; three children: Diane Fullerton and fiancé, Jim Grigsby of Bertrand, Howard Breiner and special friend, Sharon of Lexington, Kentucky, David Breiner and his wife, Malita of Vallejo, California; 12 grandchildren: 3 great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Morris and his wife, Margaret of Illinois; one sister, Mary Lester of Princeton, Illinois; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents, Emma Jean was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Harold Lester.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the Sandstrom Funeral Home in Bertrand from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
