3 victims in Dawes Co. accident identified
A two-vehicle accident on Highway 20 between Crawford and Whitney has resulted in three fatalities. Dawes County Sheriff's Deputies and the Nebraska State Patrol responded to the scene around 8 a.m. Friday.
Dawes County Attorney and Coroner Vance Haug says 66-year-old Patsy Baumgarner, of Lincoln, 43-year-old Sandra Clark, of Phillipsburg, Kansas, and 23-year-old Brandon Clark, of Lincoln were killed in the accidnet. Patsy was the grandmother of Brandon and the mother of Sandra.
Haug said evidence at the scene, witness statements and the preliminary findings of an accident reconstruction specialist, have led investigators to believe the eastbound pickup lost control in storm conditions and slid sideways into an oncoming semi truck.
The back seat passenger in the pickup was ejected, while the driver and front seat passenger remained in the vehicle. All three were killed.
The driver of the semi sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Chadron Hospital.
