Richard M. Hays

Graveside Services for Richard M. Hays will be conducted from the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with military rites provided by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 in conjunction with the United States Army Military Honors Team.

Richard M. Hays was born on February 17, 1925 to Victor L. and Bessie G. (Bowen) Hays in Queen City, Missouri, and went home to his Heavenly Father on June 18, 2013 at Springfield, Missouri.

Richard received his education from Glenwood, Iowa, graduating from Glenwood High School with the class of 1942. On February 18, 1944, he was inducted into the United States Army, serving his country during World War II until his honorable discharge. Following his service, Richard farmed in Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas and later was employed as an over-the-road truck driver.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Jackson in 1946 and to this union 5 children were born: Pete, Sharon, Carolyn, Mike and Jack.

Richard leaves to mourn his passing; his four children: Pete Hays and his wife, Connie of Goodland, KS, Sharon Cooper and her husband, Bernie of Verona, WI, Carolyn Beguin and her husband, Dr. Ev Beguin of Springfield, MO, and Jack Hays of Goodland, KS; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Helena Pein of CA; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret; son, Mike; and grandson, Nathan.
