Austin Reede Shaw, 20 years of age, of Stamford, Nebraska
A Celebration of Life Service for Austin R. Shaw will be conducted from the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Nebraska on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul Sowden officiating. Following the traditional service, cremation will be held.
Austin Reede Shaw, 20 years of age, of Stamford, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 as the result of a two car motor vehicle accident near Long Island, Kansas. Austin was born July 7, 1992 at Scottsbluff, Nebraska, the son of Mark and Amy (Flanigan) Shaw. When Austin was two years of age, the family made their home in Stamford. He received his primary education from Orleans Elementary School and then graduated from Southern Valley High School with the class of 2010. While in high school, Austin participated in wrestling all four years, a year of football and served as Junior Class President.
Austin then pursued higher education at Peru State College, where he studied Criminal Justice. He then returned home to Stamford and was employed by Tripe Motor Company in Alma, Nebraska while continuing to take classes at Central Community College in Holdrege. In December of 2012, Austin completed training and was employed full-time at the Norton Kansas Correctional Facility as a Corrections Officer.
Austin loved to live life to the fullest; he enjoyed his car, music, hanging with his friends, making people smile, and will be remembered by his keen sense of humor and had a special knack for lifting the spirits of his family and friends. He was also a member of the Stamford Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Flanigan. Austin leaves to mourn his passing; his parents: Mark and Amy Shaw of Stamford; two brothers: Michael Shaw and his wife, April of Alma and John Shaw of Stamford; one sister, Sierra Wimmer and her husband, Samuel of Lincoln, Nebraska; half-sister, Amber Woolsey of Lake Jackson, Texas; grandparents: Nancy and George Sherman of Potter, Nebraska, Mike Iliff of Beaver City, Nebraska and Betty Flanigan of Torrington, Wyoming; two nieces: Aviana and Mackenzie; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 1:30 p.m. 3:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska.
A memorial has been established in Austin's honor and kindly suggested to the Stamford Volunteer Fire Department.
