Betty Lee (Sevier) Herrington, 91 years of age, of Holdrege (formerly of Hooper)

Funeral Services for Betty L. Herrington will be conducted from the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Christopher Herrington, Pastor Murray Jones, and Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating. Interment will be in the Hooper Cemetery at Hooper, Nebraska on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.

Betty Lee (Sevier) Herrington, 91 years of age, of Holdrege (formerly of Hooper) passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. She was born on December 28, 1922 at Hymera, Indiana, the only child born to Con I. and Mabel I. (ShingShang) Sevier. Betty graduated from Fayette High School in New Goshen, Indiana with the class of 1940.

On December 3, 1941, she was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Herrington at the East Grand Boulevard Methodist Church in Detroit, Michigan. Betty and Bob were blessed with three children were born: Janice, Larry and Dale. The family made their home in Detroit until 1948, when they moved to the XA River Ranch in Loup County, Nebraska north of Burwell. In the summer of 1970, the family relocated to the Deer Creek Ranch south of Gordon, Nebraska. In 1974, they moved to Hooper, where Bob managed the CO-OP Elevator and Betty served as the manager of the "Over 60" Senior Center for 9 years prior to her retirement in 1987. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Bob on January 14, 2004. Later that Fall season, Betty moved to Chrisoma West in Holdrege to be near her family.

Betty was a longtime member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Hooper and after moving to Holdrege was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church. Betty was initiated into the Order of the Eastern Star on April 21, 1959, and later affiliated into the Friendship Chapter at Hooper on April 8, 2003 from the Andrew Chapter #41of Grand Island. She also served as a past Worthy Matron. In Betty's younger years, she loved playing the piano. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilted and loved writing in her journals.

On November 26, 2004, Betty was baptized at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege by her grandson, Pastor Christopher Herrington with many family members present. Betty always tried to give God and the Lord credit, praise, and glory during her lifetime. She always wanted to honor Him each day of her life and in her daily walk here on Earth. Her hope and prayer was to leave a legacy for her loved ones and friends. One of her greatest desires was to see all of her family accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

Besides her husband, Bob; Betty was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves to mourn her passing; her children: Janice Branzovsky of Sun City, Arizona, Larry Herrington and his wife, Janice of Eldridge, Iowa and Dale Herrington and his wife, Kathy of Holdrege; three granddaughters: Barbara Jo Stice and her husband, Bill of Sun City, Arizona, Rebecca Fox and her husband, Rod of Waukee, Iowa, and Dianne Overmiller and her husband, Travis of Loveland, Colorado; five grandsons: Cody Allen Branzovsky of Omaha, Nebraska, Mark Herrington and his wife, Angie of Eldridge,
Christopher Herrington and his wife, Carrie of Scottsdale, Arizona, Matthew Herrington and his wife, Natasha of Brentwood, California and Nicholas Herrington and his wife, Amber of Bennett, Nebraska; 16 great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Zimmer and her fiancé, Eric Henning, Meghan, Stephen and Lauren Zimmer, Myah and Mason Herrington, Mackenzie and Brookelynn Overmiller, Colin, Charis and Cuyler Herrington, Hunter, Taylor and Skylar Herrington, and Carter and Austin Herrington; 7 step great-grandchildren: Madison,
Mitchell and Zachary Fox, Brad and Jodi Harper-Stice and Jenny and Nick McGargill; 5 step great-great-grandchildren: Hunter Jones, Maggie McGargill, Robert and Kyle Harper and Henry Stice; 2 sisters-in-law: Marge Herrington of Sacramento, California and Lillian Sarpolis of Michigan; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Betty's honor and will be designated at a later date.
