Paige D. Freburg, 80 of Bertrand, Nebraska
Funeral services for Paige D. Freburg will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Moses Hill Covenant Church, rural Loomis, Nebraska with Pastor Craig Roberts officiating. Interment will be held at Moses Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by Bertrand Veteran's Organization in conjunction with the U.S. Navy Military Honors Team.
Paige Dennis Freburg, 80 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at the St. Luke's Good Samaritan Village in Kearney, Nebraska. Paige was born on October 19, 1931 on the family farm north of Loomis, Nebraska, the ninth of ten children born to Oscar Zacchaeus and Mary (Larson) Freburg. Paige was baptized on July 26, 1936 at the Westmark Church and confirmed on May 28, 1944. He attended School Dist. #76 through 6th grade, then Dist. #49 and graduated from Loomis Public Schools with the Class of 1950.
He was inducted into the U.S. Navy on December 30, 1950 where he served 42 months on the USS Catamount as a Gunner's Mate until his honorable discharge on November 2, 1954.
On January 13, 1957 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Mae Billeter at the Moses Hill Covenant Church. To this union three children were born: Neva Mae, Scott Paige and Lori Ann. The family made their home north of Loomis where Paige farmed from 1954 until he and Bonnie moved into Bertrand in 1984. He was then employed at the Bertrand Community School as custodian from February 1984 until his retirement in April 1996.
Paige enjoyed farming, ranching, camping with his family and was actively involved with 4H in his early years. Later after his retirement he enjoyed yard work, coffee with the guys, was active with the VFW and was a member of the Moses Hill Covenant Church since May 18, 1958 where he served as a Trustee, and helped audit the books for several years.
Besides his parents, Paige was preceded in death by his two brothers and seven sisters: Wallace Freburg (1912-1992), Goldie Scheeler (1913-2001), Phelps Freburg (1915-2007), Louise Brandt (1918-1992), Loraine Woodward (1921-1990), Mary Jane Jenkenson (1923-1950), Grace Waugh (1926-1999), Mardell Good (1928-2003) and Rosalie Humphrey (1934-1986), brothers-in-law: LeRoy Wilken and Bill Billeter.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Bonnie of Bertrand; children: Neva Klemme and her husband, Steve of Kearney, Scott Freburg of Bertrand, Lori Anderson and her husband, Roger of North Platte; six grandchildren: Shane Kuck of Santa Cruz, California, Cale Klemme of Santa Cruz, California, Brooke Lukasiewicz and her husband, Matt of St. Paul, Nebraska, Shawna Freburg of Murdock, Minnesota, Tracy Anderson of Lincoln, Nebraska, Dana Brestel and her husband, Nic of North Platte, Nebraska; three great-grandchildren: Aiden and Layton Lukasiewicz and Jhaylen Freburg; sisters-in-law, Betty Wilken and Carol Billeter, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be held at Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Memorials can be suggested to Moses Hill Church, the Bertrand Fire and Rescue or Donor's Choice. The Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege is in charge of the arrangements.
