Lavern W. Holtmeier, 87, of Rockville, Nebraska

Lavern W. Holtmeier, 87, of Rockville died Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Veterans Medical Center in Grand Island.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ravenna. Rev. Micah Gaunt will officiate. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Fairmont Public Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.

Lavern Holtmeier was born June 23, 1924 in Beatrice, Nebraska to Albert and Hermina (Meyer) Holtmeier. He was educated at Zion Lutheran School in Tobias.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He married Shirley Grote on April 19, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Daykin, Nebraska. They made their home on farms north of Daykin, Tobias and Fairmont. They retired to Rockville in 1988.

Lavern was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Farmers Co-op. Board and was a 4-H Leader.

Survivors include his wife of Rockville, son and daughter-in-law, Boyd and Paula Holtmeier of Hay Springs, NE, two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Dale Delka of Superior and Verla and John Barber of Lincoln, son-in-law, Richard Hafer of Fairmont, 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Norval Holtmeier of North Platte and Aldo and his wife, Marlyn Holtmeier of Crete and a sister-in-law, Jean Holtmeier of Grand Island.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sondra, brother, LeRoy and a great-grandson.
