The Cattlemen's Ball of Nebraska is an annual event that is held at a different ranch each year to raise cancer awareness and as a fundraiser for cancer research. The goal for the 2014 event is to raise $2.5 million for cancer research and local medical causes. 90% of the proceeds will go to the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, with the remaining 10% earmarked toward regional medical organizations.

Hoot Owl Ranch, Jeff and Kathy May (Owner) and Kenny and Misty Stauffer (Ranch Manager) will be your hosts for the 2014 Cattlemen's Ball of Nebraska. They are a cow-calf operation located in Banner County, which includes a commercial cow-calf operation, registered black angus, registered black angus bulls and preserving the western way of life.

The May family says "We are honored and humbled to be the 2014 host of the Cattlemen's Ball of Nebraska. We know that everyone's life has been touched in one way or another by a family member or friend battling cancer. It is important to our family to support the research in the fight against cancer with one day the hopes of finding a cure. We hope that you will join us this year to get a closer look at Western Nebraska and the people that make it a community."

Kenny and Misty Stauffer have managed the Hoot Owl Ranch for the past 14 years. The Stauffer's say "We are very excited to be hosting the 2014 Cattlemen's Ball of Nebraska. We hope our passion for agriculture will benefit the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in finding a cure to a disease that affects each one of us today. God has blessed us with a wonderful life in the cattle industry and given us a great state and community that supports agriculture. We hope to make a difference and raise awareness in the coming year as we prepare for our ball."

Entertainment for this year's Cattleman's Ball will be provided by country music sensations Montgomery Gentry. With a new album, a new label and a renewed sense of musical purpose, Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry are poised to stake their claim as one of country music's all-time greatest duos.

There will be a golf tournament and art show.
