Glenn Lee Davis, 64 years old, of Wilcox, Nebraska
Funeral Services for Glenn L. Davis will be conducted from the Community Church in Wilcox, Nebraska on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Craig Cedar officiating. Interment will take place at Osco Cemetery, rural Minden, Nebraska.
Glenn Lee Davis, 64 years old, of Wilcox, Nebraska passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013 at his home in Wilcox. Glenn was born May 19, 1949 in Minden, Nebraska the second of four children born to Delton and Geraldine (Best) Davis. The family later moved to Axtell, Nebraska where he received his primary education. Glenn graduated from Wilcox Public School with the class of 1968. Following graduation, Glenn tried to enlist in the United States Navy, but was declined because of poor hearing.
Glenn was baptized at the Axtell Presbyterian Church on June 27, 1955. He accepted Jesus as his Savior at the Polk Bible Camp in Polk, Nebraska and was later confirmed at the Old Wilcox Community Church in April of 1968.
In his younger years, Glenn worked various jobs. He was then employed as a sheet metal puncher for over 37 years at Delux Manufacturing in Kearney, Nebraska.
He was a member of the Wilcox Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid Elvis Presley fan, colleting many memorabilia pieces. He enjoyed bowling until his legs would no longer take it. Glenn loved garage sales, yard work, working in his shop, making Christmas ornaments, decorating for Christmas, working in his garden and talking with friends and family. Glenn never knew a stranger.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by many uncles, aunts and other family members.
Glenn leaves to mourn his passing his special friend and companion, Donna Taylor of Wilcox; sister, Charlene Jezbera and her husband, Gary of Wilcox; two brothers: Gayle Davis and his wife, Linda of Holdrege, Gary Davis and his wife, Ellen of Wilcox; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. 7:30 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Wilcox.
A memorial will be established in Glenn's name and will be designated at a later date.
