Earl "Junior" Hanson, 82 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska

Memorial Services for Earl Junior Hanson will be conducted from the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church in rural Holdrege, Nebraska on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Murray Jones and Mr. Wayne Carlson officiating. Private family interment will be held prior to services at the Moses Hill Cemetery, rural Phelps County.

Earl "Junior" Hanson, 82 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. Junior was born July 30, 1930 in Holdrege, Nebraska, the seventh of ten children born to Earl W. and Tillie M. (Nelson) Hanson. He received his primary education from Phelps County District #29 and then graduated from the Curtis School of Agriculture in Curtis, Nebraska with the class of 1949. Earl attended one semester at McCook Junior College in McCook, Nebraska.

Following his education, Junior engaged in farming in Phelps County until his retirement in 1998.

In 1952, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Dunlap of Franklin and to this union three children were born: Donna Marie, William Earl and Carol Lynn.

Junior enjoyed sports. He especially enjoyed playing softball.
Junior was a member of the R-6 School Board, Holdrege CO-OP Board and the Telephone Board. He also served as a Trustee, Treasurer and Deacon at Holcomb Evangelical Free Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Helen Hanson in infancy, Lawrence "Bob" Hanson and his wife, Elva, Evalyn Almquist and her husband, Dean, Wilmer Hanson and his wife, Ruth, Roger Hanson and his wife, Isla, Dorothy Novak and her husband, Bob; and brother-in-law, Harry Hollinger.

Junior is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Christian Homes in Holdrege; son, Bill Hanson and his wife, Kelley of Holdrege; daughters, Donna Imig and her husband, Jim of Seward, Nebraska and Carol Sandin and her husband, Torrey of Lincoln, Nebraska; six grandchildren: Cody Hanson and his wife, Becky, Joel Imig, Britny Imig and Jamie Imig, Taryn Sandin and Jenna Sandin; step-grandchildren: Tony Imig and his wife, Alice, Shannon Yeackley and her husband, Colby and Mindy Ruzicka and her husband, Danny; step- great-grandchildren: Tyler and Zachary Penner, Jimmie and Katie Imig and Mack Ruzicka; one brother: Sherrod Hanson and his wife, Doris of Loomis, Nebraska; two sisters: Doris Hollinger of Papillion, and Gladys Cole and her husband, Gerald of Curtis, Nebraska; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established and is suggested to the family.
