Lexington Y hires Terri Burch as Program Manager

LEXINGTON - The YMCA OF LEXINGTON welcomes Terri Burch as its new program manager.

Burch will lead the health and wellness programs and youth sports programs at the Y. She replaces Shane Roberts, who moved to Colorado.

Burch previously owned a fitness facility in Lexington for five years and is a certified personal trainer. She is certified to teach Yogafit, Tai Chi and Zumba. She has taught fitness classes since the late 1980s and is a former non-competitive body builder.

"I enjoy being active and encouraging others to be active," Burch said. "I like helping others navigate fitness equipment, making it easy and accessible, so members will experience success."

Burch, a North Platte native, holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and also works part-time at the Dawson County Sheriff's Office.

She is passionate about how the YMCA is connecting people in Lexington and how it will benefit Lexington in the future.

"The Y will help the community flourish by nurturing our youth with a variety of enriching programs and by providing a safe environment for all ages to increase their physical activity and I, fortunately, get to be an active member of the process," she said.

The Y is currently operating out of the former Lexington library building at 103 E. 10th St. This fall, the new YMCA connected to the Lexington Middle School, will open.

"Being in the early stages of our Y is very exciting," Burch said. "The facility is amazing. It will make walking and exercising in various modes a joy. It's a facility the community should and shall be proud of."
