NASS Surveying Producers on Planting Intentions, Hogs and Pigs Inventories
USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service will survey tens of thousands of growers during the coming weeks about their planting intentions for this year. The results will help the entire ag industry determine what to expect this growing season.
Beyond grain growers - NASS will be surveying thousands of pork producers on their hog and pig inventories and spring farrowing intentions.
NASS National Operations Division Director Bob Bass says the information collected from the survey establishes a trend that's likely to happen the entire growing season. This year - after a weather-plagued season - Bass says it's more important than ever to understand planting intentions for this year.
Most participants should have received their surveys in the mail yesterday and can either fill the forms out and mail them back or respond online. NASS will publish reports with the results of the surveys on March 28th.
