Graveside Memorial Services for Shane R. Upson will be held in Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, Nebraska on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Dave Irwin officiating.

Shane Ray Upson, 43 years of age, of rural Loomis, Nebraska passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at his parent's home south of Loomis. Shane was born October 31, 1970 at Holdrege, the youngest of four children born to Margle and Janice (Johnson) Upson. He received his education in Loomis graduating from Loomis High School with the class of 1989.

Shane enjoyed team roping, raising and caring for cattle, custom haying and farming. For the past six summers he worked for Werner Construction of Hastings, Nebraska mixing products and loading trucks at various plant sites all over the state. He also owned several trucks hauling various products.

He was blessed by the birth of his son, Dillion and daughter, Dawn. Shane enjoyed watching his son's football games and his daughter's volleyball and basketball games. He also enjoyed hunting. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

Shane was preceded in death by his grandparents: James and Eleanor (Heidemann) Johnson, and Harry and Hilda (Pouk) Upson; one aunt, Dorcel (Upson) Johnson and her husband, Mert.

He leaves to mourn his passing; his son, Dillion Ray Upson and his daughter, Dawn Marie Upson both of Holdrege; his parents: Margle and Janice Upson of Loomis; three sisters: Vicki Roeder and her husband, David of Coffeyville, Kansas, Marti Johnson and her husband, Kyle of Atlanta, Nebraska and Jodi Upson of Hastings, Nebraska; aunts and uncles: JoAnn Epping of Kearney, Nebraska, Roger J. "Swede" Johnson of Holdrege; one nephew, Chance Upson of Atlanta; three nieces: Kactus Bidwell and her husband, Miles and Kanyon Kelly both of Manhattan, Kansas, Carlli Sellers of Grand Island, Nebraska; one great nephew, Kash Bidell of Manhattan; and along with many cousins, extended family and many, many friends.

Memorial Book Signing will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege. Shane never knew a stranger. Come celebrate Shane's life in casual attire. Peace to his memory.

A memorial has been established in Shane's honor and will be designated to a college fund for his children, Dillion and Dawn.
