2014 Dry Edible Bean Day In Gering
The 2014 Nebraska Dry Edible Bean Day will feature advice for producers, news about health benefits and using beans in other foods, updates on research, and promotion efforts. Bean Day is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan.14, at the Gering Civic Center, sponsored by the Nebraska Dry Bean Growers Association (NDBGA).
President Dean Keener says Bean Day will feature new aspects to bean production.
The morning will focus on field production with a research update from University of Nebraska, including a presentation by UNL Director of Extension Dr. Chuck Hibberd.
The afternoon will feature the latest on promotion efforts through the Nebraska Dry Bean Growers, Nebraska Dry Bean Commission, US Dry Bean Council. Dr. Henry Thompson of the Colorado State University Cancer Prevention Lab will discuss why humans should eat more beans.
Bean Day is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan.14, at the Gering Civic Center, sponsored by the Nebraska Dry Bean Growers Association (NDBGA). Doors and trade show open at 8 a.m. The program begins at 8:30 a.m.
Bean Day is open to the public and Keener encourages farmers and business leaders to attend to learn about what's going nationally and internationally with the dry bean industry.
