Kimball city official enters no contest plea
A Kimball city official has entered a no contest plea to third degree assault in a dispute with a female customer over a water leak. Dave Ford, the city's water supervisor, was convicted Wednesday of pushing or grabbing the citizen at city hall when the two got into a heated argument August 3rd over the city's responsibility to repair the problem.
Ford was initially charged with strangulation, a class four felony, but Judge Randin Roland dismissed the more serious charge due to lack of evidence after a preliminary hearing. Cheyenne County Attorney Paul Schaub prosecuted the case after Kimball County Attorney Dave Wilson excused himself. Ford will be sentenced January 9th.
Ford retained his job but City Administrator Harold Farrar told KNEB News Ford was disciplined. Farrar said he could not comment on the specifics of the discipline because it was a personnel issue.
