Dale Ray Romjue, 86 years, 11 months and 20 days of age, of Republican City, Nebraska
Funeral Services for Dale R. Romjue will be conducted from the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma, Nebraska on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor John McDonald, Sr. officiating. Interment will take place at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, in rural Phillips County, Kansas.
Dale Ray Romjue, 86 years, 11 months and 20 days of age, of Republican City, Nebraska passed away suddenly on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 10:02 p.m. at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul, Nebraska. Dale was born August 2, 1926 the second of four children born to Roy LaMonte and Nina M. (Norton) Romjue in rural Phillips County, Kansas. He received his primary education for 1st and 2nd grade at Crow School in Phillips County. The family then moved to a farm north of Long Island, Kansas where he received his education through the 8th grade at the Springbrook Country School, District #26 in Nebraska. He stayed with his grandparents one winter doing the winter chores, while his grandfather's health was failing and later died. Dale started working for neighbors at the age of 13, shucking corn, cultivating, and doing odd jobs making $3 a day.
On April 20, 1946, Dale was united in marriage to Bernita F. Mulder at the Court House in Phillipsburg, Kansas. The family began farming in the Greenwood Township, in Phillips County, living in what was the Handyville Country Store. To this union two daughters were born: Jennette Ann and Kathryn Kaye.
Dale and Bernita moved on to the Mulder family farm and continued farming for 38 years, retiring in 2000. He and Bernita later moved to Republican City in 2003.
He was a faithful attendee of the Holiness Churches for almost 60 years. Dale made a mark, as a quiet man with common sense. Dale will be remembered and loved by family and friends.
Dale was preceded in death by his daughter: Jennette; parents; brother-in-law, Frances Hanes; nephew, Paul Ivan Hanes; and a sister, Della Mae Sell.
Dale leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Bernita of Republican City; daughter, Kathryn K. Romjue of Lincoln, Nebraska; sisters: Norma Lee Hanes of rural Republican City and Alta Mulder and her husband, Kenneth of rural Southern Republican City; brother-in-law, Billy Sell of Holdrege, Nebraska; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 29, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., prior to the funeral service at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma.
A memorial has been established in Dale's name and will be designated at a later date.
