Court documents: Victim in Maxwell schools case sodomized
Court documents filed in the Maxwell Schools sexual assault case describe the details involved in the alleged sexual abuse among wrestling team members. The failure to report the assaults when they allegedly had knowledge of them has led to two administrators at the school being cited for failing to make a report of child abuse.
An affidavit filed by a State Patrol investigator says the case began with reports of an alleged video showing an underage wrestling team member being held down by other team members and sodomized with a soda bottle and, on another occasion, being groped on a school bus.
The Omaha World Herald says a woman who spoke to the youth and later reported the alleged assault to investigators indicated the response from the boys' coach was " What happens in wrestling stays in wrestling." Cited in the case were superintendent Danny Twarling, high school principal Aubrey Boucher and wrestling coach Ryan Jones.
The affidavit says Twarling told investigators that Maxwell school staff had investigated the allegations but determined them to be unfounded.
