Lexington part of six city organization

The City of Lexington has joined five other cities to make up the Greater Nebraska Cities Organization.

City Manager Joe Pepplitsch says Lexington has a positive outlook on it.

"We're glad to be part of the group. We have a great working relationship, and we'll see how things work moving forward. But we hope some real good will come out of that. Consolidated voice for Central Nebraska, we don't see a downside to that."

The group hasn't discussed legislative issues yet, but they've been receiving attention about every day.

"We generally track legislative issues on a daily basis, it's just issues this group has specifically not taken any stand or made statement to this point on any specific issue, but I would foresee in the coming months that the group will become a little bit more active."

The idea behind the organization is to communicate, collaborate, and promote the mutual interests of its members.

Other cities involved are Holdrege, Kearney, Grand Island, Hastings, and North Platte.
