Trevor Douglas Powell, 30 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska

A Celebration of Life Service for Trevor D. Powell will be conducted from the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverends Jeff Adams and Craig Collins officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Trevor Douglas Powell, 30 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Nebraska Medical Center – Clarkson Tower in Omaha, Nebraska. Trevor was born with Congenital Heart Disease as a baby and fought many battles during his life time and over the years developed a special bond with his Doctor K.L. Shafer and the Cardiology team at Children's Hospital in Omaha.

Trevor was born November 1, 1983 at Holdrege, Nebraska the third of three sons born to Dave and Cindy (Stockwell) Powell. He began his education at Oxford, Nebraska and then completed his high school years at Southern Valley, Nebraska High School with the Class of 2003.

After high school he was employed by the radio station in Phillipsburg, Kansas. While living in Norton, Kansas, Trevor was blessed with a son, Carter Aaron Powell born on June 13, 2009. In November of 2009, Carter and Trevor moved to Holdrege, where Trevor was employed by the Holdrege Daily Citizen.

Trevor was an avid sports fan with the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Cubs being two of his favorites along with the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Tri-City Storm. He also loved to follow his Alma mater, Southern Valley Eagles during basketball season. With his heart condition, he started bowling as a child. He competed in many tournaments and leagues until his passing.

One of the happiest days was when his son was born, Carter's middle name was to honor a childhood friend who also had a similar heart condition. Trevor shared his love of sports with Carter and took him to different sporting events. Trevor was quick with a smile and had the ability to talk with absolutely anyone and everyone like they had been best friends for years.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dean Stockwell on November 30, 2010 and all of his great-grandparents.

Trevor leaves to mourn his passing his son, Carter Aaron Powell of Holdrege; his parents, Dave and Cindy Powell of Holdrege; two brothers: Tyler and his wife, Christy of Hastings, Nebraska, Tony and his wife, Kristin of Hastings; his special friend, Anna Hopkins and her children of Kearney, Nebraska; grandparents: Roger and Marlene Powell, Waldene Stockwell all of Holdrege; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established in Trevor's honor and kindly suggested to the family to establish a college savings fund for his son, Carter.
