William Thomas "Bill" McCune, 61 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska

Celebration of Life Services for William T. "Bill" McCune will be conducted from the North Park Assembly of God Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Steinbach, officiating. Inurnment will be in the North Platte Cemetery at North Platte, Nebraska.

William Thomas "Bill" McCune, 61 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Bill was born May 9, 1952 at Denver, Colorado, the second of three children born to Vincent Thomas and Ila Marie (Powers) McCune. The family made their home in Colorado until settling to North Platte, where Bill received his education from North Platte Public Schools and received his Special Education Diploma.

Bill resided in several communities until December 4, 1995, when Bill began to make his home at Holdrege within Bethphage Mission, now known as Mosaic of Holdrege. For the past 9 years, he resided with his host family, Randy and Trixie Swearingen and Bill quickly became a member of the family.

Bill was active with the Mosaic Woodshop, where he was involved with making wood items and later worked in the Habilitation Room, where he could work on puzzles and loved to use his hands putting things together. He also enjoyed being a part of the garden crew. In late afternoons, Bill enjoyed visiting with friends, playing games, watching sports on TV as he socialized in the retirement room. Bill was an outgoing person who loved going on vacations with his family, loved life to the fullest, and always tried to put a smile on everyone's face.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Daniel Duane McCune.

Bill leaves to mourn his passing; his sister, Diana Bridgewater of Chowchilla, California; host family: Randy and Trixie Swearingen of Holdrege; numerous host brothers and sisters that he loved; his entire Mosaic family and Keith Nelson of Holdrege, who served as his guardian.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial has been established in Bill's honor and kindly suggested to Mosaic of Holdrege.
