Larry Eugene Linden, 62, Holdrege, Nebraska

Funeral Services for Larry E. Linden will be conducted from the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dale Lambert officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Larry Eugene Linden, 62 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Creighton University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Larry was born December 25, 1950 at Holdrege, the third of four children born to Melvin and Lillian (Feusner) Linden. He was baptized and confirmed at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege. Larry received his primary education from the R-7 District School and then graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1969. He then pursued higher education at the University of Nebraska Lincoln – College of Agriculture, where he majored in Animal Science and was a member of the University Livestock Judging Team. After receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science in December of 1973, Larry returned to home to operate the family farm north of Holdrege.
On February 18, 1978 he was united in marriage to Cheryl L. Alexander of Grand Island, Nebraska and to this union two children were born: Alexander Carl and Laura Louise. The family made their home on the Linden family farm north of Holdrege, where he engaged in farming and livestock management. His true passion was his cow/calf operation, and supporting 4-H projects so kids involved in 4-H throughout the State of Nebraska could appreciate quality livestock. In addition to the farm, Larry was also employed during the winter by Seminole Energy as a sales representative, traveling the State assisting farmers during sign-up period.
Larry was a long-time supporter of 4-H, serving on the Phelps County Fair Board for over 20 years, he also served as a 4-H Leader, and countless hours were enjoyed by the family traveling to livestock shows. Larry also served on the Holdrege CO-OP Board, past President of the Phelps-Gosper Pork Producers, and served as Past President of Phelps County FSA Committee.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Holdrege, where he served as a faithful usher.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; half-sister, Joyce Bor; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Grover and Matilda Alexander.
He leaves to mourn his passing; his wife, Cheryl of rural Holdrege; son, Alex Linden of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughter, Laura Linden of Overland Park, Kansas; brother, Gary Linden and his wife, Carey of Forsyth, Missouri; two sisters: Carol Boller and her husband, Jesse of Ashland, Nebraska and Dorothy Porath and her husband, Paul of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Gary McAllister of Grand Island; sister-in-law, Charlotte Harders and her husband, Francis of Wood River, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established in Larry's honor and kindly suggested to the Phelps County 4-H Livestock Program.
