Funeral Services for Derek Grosenbach will be conducted from the St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford, Nebraska on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dale Hedstrom officiating. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date in the Oxford Cemetery, Oxford.
Derek Charles Grosenbach, 27 years of age, of Columbus, Nebraska (formerly of Oxford) passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013 at his home in Columbus. Derek was born July 14, 1985 in Holdrege, Nebraska the oldest of two children born to Scott and Tammy (Thulin) Grosenbach. Derek was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford. He received his primary education from Oxford Elementary School and then attended Southern Valley High School, graduating with the class of 2004. Derek pursued higher education from Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska and received two degrees: an Electrical Mechanical degree and an Electrical degree.
Derek enjoyed being with his friends in Oxford and in Columbus. He enjoyed his new love, of riding his Harley with his many friends and his dad.
He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford.
Derek was employed by ADM in Columbus. Derek enjoyed working with all the people of ADM.
Derek was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mildred and Charles Grosenbach; uncles: Tom Grosenbach and Steve Grosenbach.
Derek leaves to mourn his passing, his parents, Scott and Tammy Grosenbach of Oxford, Nebraska; a sister, Sari Grosenbach and her fiancĂ©, Kyle Hohnholt of Kearney, Nebraska; maternal grandparents, Corky and Eldon Thulin of Grand Island, Nebraska; aunts and uncles: Al and Carol Wendland of Axtell, Nebraska, Kristi Thulin of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Glen and Jody Thulin of Holdrege; cousins: Stacy and Justin Kirchhoff and family of Friend, Nebraska, Torey, Tyler, Sydney and Lexie Thulin, all of Holdrege; along with other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. Â– 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. Â– 7:30 p.m. at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home at Oxford.
A memorial will be established in Derek's honor and will be designated at a later date.
