R. Marcellus "Mike" Larson, 96 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska

Funeral Services for R. Marcellus "Mike" Larson will be held on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Chaplain Daren Popple officiating. Interment will be in the Fridhem Cemetery at Funk, Nebraska.

R. Marcellus "Mike" Larson, 96 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Marcellus was born January 28, 1917 on the family farm southeast of Funk in Phelps County, Nebraska, the eldest of two children of E. Richard and Mabel (Nelson) Larson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk. He received his primary education from a District School south of Funk and then graduated from Holdrege High School. Following his education, Mike engaged in farming on the family farm southeast of Funk with his father.

On Christmas Day of 1939, he was united in marriage to Alberta L. Carson and to this union three sons were born: Richard L., Royce L. and Ronald C. The family made their home on the family farm southeast of Funk. In 1990, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta.

In September of 1991, he was united in marriage to Jean Erickson and they made their home in Holdrege, where they enjoyed many retirement years together.

After moving to Holdrege he became a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church and most recently enjoyed chapel services at Holdrege Memorial Homes.

Besides his parents and wife, Alberta; he was preceded in death by his youngest son, Ronald C. Larson; and brother-in-law, Don Hewitt.

He leaves to mourn his passing; his wife, Jean of Holdrege; his two sons: Richard L. Larson and his wife, Kathy of Kearney, Nebraska and Royce L. Larson and his wife, Kathy of Axtell, Nebraska; five grandchildren: Morgan Larson and his wife, Natasha, Cass Larson, Jeff Larson and his wife, Dawn, Andrea Runge and her husband, Brett, and Devin Larson and his wife, Tammy; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ingrid Hewitt of Holdrege; and a host of step-children; step-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Mike's honor and kindly suggested to the Holdrege Memorial Homes Foundation.
