Oxford man faces federal pornography charges
An Oxford man now faces federal charges in connection with a child pornography investigation by the state Attorney General's Office. In September, the agency was assisted by Furnas County Sheriff's Office in serving a search warrant on a computer owned by 37-year-old Vance Baumbach. It yielded more than a 1,000 sexually explicit images on multiple hard-drives according to Attorney General Jon Bruning. That led to the filing of 4 charges of child pornography in Furnas County Court. But, those charges were dismissed earlier this month when a federal grand jury handed up a two count indictment on December 10th charging Baumbach with receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography. He was scheduled to make an initial appearance Friday in federal court in Lincoln.
Baumbach is a registered sex offender as he was previously convicted of felony sexual exploitation of a child in Colorado and was on parole at the time of his September arrest.
