Cozad will take part in a full scale tornado drill Saturday, June 21. The drill will begin at 1 p.m. and will encompass a large area of 42 homes and a one block area that will be a debris field with four wrecked cars. Cozad Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Chief, Marlene Williams talks about the importance of the event.

"We felt the importance of bringing the full awareness to the community of Cozad and the surrounding communities to have this drill," said Williams. "We have about 40 volunteer victims that will be making up different injuries, ranging from minor to very critical that will be transported to the local hospital."

Cozad Hospital, Gothenburg Hospital, Good Samaritan Air Care, Good Samaritan Hospital, Eustis Fire Department, Gothenburg, Lexington, and other mutual aid departments, Source Gas, City of Cozad, and Board of Public Works will all be participating and helping out Saturday.

"We're very fortunate to be able to do this. We're encouraging the community to come and watch us do this drill. We will do it in slow motion so everybody can get the best training that they can out of it and so everyone can see what's going on."

The day will end with a hamburger feed at 5:30 p.m.
