He was born October 29, 1953 in Ware, Mass., the eldest of four children born to Reynold and Helen (Bidga) Billeter. With his father being in the military the family resided in several locations throughout the United States before settling in Chicopee, Mass for his high school years. Steve graduated from Chicopee High School with the class of 1971. To this union two children were born: Andrea Lynn and Eric Michael.

The family made their home in Oxford, where Steve taught Physical Education, Geography, History and coached football, girl's basketball, volleyball, track and wrestling at Oxford High School. Steve then became Principal at Oxford Elementary and then Southern Valley Elementary until his retirement in 2010.

Steve will be remembered for the opening of the elementary building in 2008 to complete the Southern Valley Campus, but his legacy will be the impact he made in the lives of the countless number of students he touched.

After retiring in 2010, Steve spent his time with his many friends at Lueking Brother's Farms. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, working out at the SVHS weight room, tending to his yard, and playing with his grandsons.
