Matthew John (Matt) Sorensen, 46 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska


Memorial Services for Matthew J. Sorensen will be conducted from the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Don Hunzeker officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Matthew John (Matt) Sorensen, 46 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2013 in rural Doniphan, Nebraska. Matt was born October 17, 1966 in Minden, Nebraska and was the third of five children raised by Bernard and Judy K. (Quincy) Woodside. The family made their home in the Lexington, Nebraska area. Matt received his primary education from Lexington Public Schools and later, St. Ann's in Lexington and then Omaha Benson in Omaha, Nebraska thru the 10th grade.

Matt was baptized on January 26, 1981 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington.

Following his education, Matt was employed as a painter in various communities.

Matt enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels and die-cast model cars. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by grandmother, Katherine Quincy.

He is survived by his parents: Judy and Bernard Woodside of Holdrege; two brothers: Ross Woodside and his wife, Traci of Holdrege, Jim Woodside of Kearney, Nebraska; two sisters: Kim Tvrdy and her husband, Terry of Central City, Nebraska, Jessica Carbaugh and her husband, Jerry of Cambridge, Nebraska; grandfather, Chester Quincy of Minden, Nebraska; eight nieces and nephews; two great-nieces; one great-nephew; along with extended family and friends.

There will be no visitation as the family has chosen cremation.

A memorial has been established in Matt's honor and will be designated at a later.
