Florence Angeline Dossett, 98 years of age, of Holdrege
Memorial Services for Florence A. Dossett will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Christian Homes Care Community Chapel at Holdrege, Nebraska with Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating. A private family inurnment will be held prior to the services at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Axtell, Nebraska.
Florence Angeline Dossett, 98 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 at Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. Florence was born October 9, 1914 at Axtell, the youngest of five children born to Oscar and Selma (Ang) Anderson. She received her education from Axtell Public Schools, graduating from Axtell High School with the class of 1932. Florence then pursued higher education to receive her beautician's license from the Bonnell Beauty School in Hastings, Nebraska.
On October 10, 1940 she was united in marriage to Arden Van Dossett at Alma, Nebraska and to this union three children were born: Ted, James, and Jane. Early on in the couple's marriage they made their home in McCook, Oxford, and Kearney, Nebraska, before settling to Holdrege in 1956. She then established her own salon, Florence's Beauty Shop in the basement of their home, which she operated until her retirement in 1999.
Florence was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church. Florence and Arden enjoyed playing cards with friends and square dancing together. Besides her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Arden on June 1, 1992; a grandson, Tad Allen Dossett in 1973; three brothers: Gaylord, Oscar "Bud" and Clemens "Ken" Anderson; and one sister, Selma Thompson.
She leaves to mourn her passing; her three children: Ted Dossett and his wife, Betty Lou of Holdrege, Jim Dossett and his wife, Luanne of Silverthorne, Colorado, and Jane Weeder and her husband, Stan of Atlanta, Nebraska; eight grandchildren: Todd Dossett and his wife, Kelly, Terra Meyer and her husband, Tim, Terry Smith and her husband, Jerry all of Holdrege, Kylor Dossett of Breckenridge, Colorado, Sharayah Peterson and her husband, Adam of Memphis, Tenn., Marcie Stephens and her husband, Craig of Pleasanton, Nebraska, Derek Weeder and his fiancĂ©, Kassie Brown of Holdrege, and Angelin Johnston and her husband, J.J. of Loomis, Nebraska; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Helen Anderson of California; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation, the family is honoring Florence's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Florence's honor and will be designated at a later date.
